Syn-Rx DM Oral Uses
Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous and chest congestion. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that relieves nasal congestion. This combination of medicines is used to treat symptoms due to colds, allergies, or certain upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, sinusitis).
Do not use this medication in children younger than 2 years unless specifically directed by the doctor. To decrease the risk for serious side effects, carefully follow all of the doctor's dosage directions. Do not give other cough and cold medication that might contain the same or similar ingredients (see also Drug Interactions section). Ask your doctor or pharmacist about other ways to relieve cough and cold symptoms (e.g., saline nose drops/spray, using a humidifier or infant nasal suction bulb).
How To Use Syn-Rx DM Oral
Take this medication by mouth with a full glass of water usually every 12 hours or as directed by your doctor.
This medication must be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew the tablets.
This kit comes with different colored morning doses and evening doses. Ask your doctor or pharmacist how to use this medication correctly and follow all instructions carefully.
Do not increase your dose, take it more frequently, nor take it for longer periods of time than prescribed.
If stomach upset occurs, you may take this with food or milk.
It is recommended you drink plenty of clear fluids (water preferred; 6-8 glasses a day) to help relieve congestion.
Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
