Zithromax Oral Uses
Azithromycin is an antibiotic (macrolide-type). This single dose form of the medication is used to treat certain infections, including genital infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
This form of the medication is not intended for use in children.
How To Use Zithromax Oral
Mix the contents of the packet in 2 ounces of water (60 milliliters). Drink this immediately. Add another 2 ounces of water, mix and drink the entire amount. You may take this medication with or without food.
Antacids may decrease the absorption of azithromycin. If you take an antacid, wait at least 2 hours after taking this medication.
Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
