Saline Bacteriostatic Inj Side Effects

Side effects from sodium chloride solution are rare and more likely to be caused by how the solution is given or the medication it is mixed with.

Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.



Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur:

  • fever
  • redness/pain at the injection site
  • sore/red/swollen vein leading from the injection site
  • swelling of the area near the injection site
  • swollen feet/ankles/legs/body
  • trouble breathing
  • muscle cramps/weakness
