Prevpac Oral

Generic Name: LANSOPRAZOLE/AMOXICILLIN/CLARITHROMYCIN - ORAL
Pronounced: (lan-SO-pruh-zole/uh-mox-eh-SILL-in/kluh-RITH-row-MY-sin)

Prevpac Oral Uses

This medication is used to treat and prevent certain types of ulcers that are caused by a bacterial infection. Treating the infection helps to reduce the risk of the ulcer occurring again. Treating an ulcer reduces the risk of serious damage to the lining of the stomach/intestines (e.g., bleeding, tearing, blockage).

This product contains 3 medications. Lansoprazole blocks acid production in the stomach, helping to heal the ulcer and relieve abdominal pain. It belongs to the class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic, and clarithromycin is a macrolide-type antibiotic. Both antibiotics work by stopping the growth of bacteria.

The antibiotics in this medication treat only bacterial infections. Antibiotics do not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.

How To Use Prevpac Oral

Take this medication by mouth exactly as directed by your doctor, usually one dose (four pills) twice daily before a meal. Swallow each pill whole. Do not divide, crush or chew.

Each packet contains both the morning and evening doses of this medication (a one-day supply). Consult your doctor or pharmacist for instructions on the proper use of this product. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.

Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this drug at evenly spaced intervals. Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of your condition.

Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
