Cardizem IV

Generic Name: DILTIAZEM - INJECTION
Pronounced: (dill-TIE-uh-zem)

Cardizem IV Uses

Diltiazem injection is used for a limited time in the hospital to control certain heart rhythm problems (atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia). Controlling your heart rhythm can prevent stroke, heart attack, and worsening heart rhythm problems. It can also improve your symptoms (e.g., dizziness, fainting, breathing problems). Diltiazem is called a calcium channel blocker. It works by slowing the heart rate so that your heart beats normally.

How To Use Cardizem IV

This medication is given only in the hospital by a healthcare professional. It is given slowly into a vein by injection or an IV, usually for no more than 24 hours as directed by your doctor. Generally, diltiazem is given while your heart and blood pressure are monitored.

Follow all instructions for proper mixing and dilution with the correct IV fluids. If you have questions regarding the use of this medication, consult your pharmacist.

Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid.
