Pyrilamine-PE Tannates-GG Oral

Generic Name: GUAIFENESIN/DECONGESTANT/ANTIHISTAMINE - ORAL

Pyrilamine-PE Tannates-GG Oral Uses

This medication is used for the temporary relief of runny/stuffy nose, phlegm, ear congestion, watery/itchy eyes, and itchy throat that may be caused by allergies, hay fever, the common cold, sinus inflammation (sinusitis), and other breathing illnesses. This medication contains 3 ingredients. Guaifenesin is called an expectorant. It works by making phlegm in the breathing tubes more liquid. This helps a cough to clear phlegm better. The decongestant relieves the stuffy nose and ear congestion. The antihistamine relieves the itchy/watery eyes and itchy throat.

Do not use this medication in children younger than 2 years unless specifically directed by the doctor. To decrease the risk for serious side effects, carefully follow all of the doctor's dosage directions. Do not give other cough and cold medication that might contain the same or similar ingredients (see also Drug Interactions section). Ask your doctor or pharmacist about other ways to relieve cough and cold symptoms (e.g., saline nose drops/spray, using a humidifier or infant nasal suction bulb).

How To Use Pyrilamine-PE Tannates-GG Oral

Take this medication by mouth after a meal or snack exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take each dose with a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters) unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Scored tablets may be split for lower doses. Swallow capsules whole. If you are taking a suspension, shake well before each use. Use a medication-measuring device to measure your dose of liquid medication. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose.

Dosage is based on the product you are taking and your age, medical condition, and response to treatment. If you are using this medication for self-treatment (without a prescription from your doctor), follow the specific dosing instructions on the packaging to find the correct dose for your age. Do not take more of this medication, use it more often, or take it for longer than recommended.

If your doctor directs you to take this medication daily, take it regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time(s) each day.

Tell your doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen after more than 1 week or if you also have fever, chills, headache, or rash. These may be signs of a more serious condition.
