Calan IV Uses

Verapamil for injection is used to treat certain kinds of irregular heartbeats (paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia and the fast heart rate due to atrial flutter and fibrillation). Controlling an irregular heartbeat will make you more comfortable and prevent complications. Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker. It works by controlling the electrical system of the heart which results in slowing of fast heart beats.



How To Use Calan IV

This medication is given only in the hospital by medical personnel by slow injection into a vein, as directed by your doctor. Generally, Verapamil is given with heart and blood pressure monitoring over at least a two-minute period (at least three minutes in the elderly).

The dosage is based on your age, medical condition, body size and response to therapy.

Inform your doctor if your condition worsens.
