Nydrazid Inj
Generic Name: ISONIAZID - INJECTIONPronounced: (eye-so-NYE-uh-zid)
Nydrazid Inj Uses
This medication is used with other medications to treat active tuberculosis (TB) infections or alone to prevent those who have a positive TB test from developing symptoms of TB. Isoniazid injection is used when the same medication can not be taken by mouth. Isoniazid belongs to a class of drugs known as antibiotics that are active against tuberculosis.
How To Use Nydrazid Inj
This medication is given by injection into a muscle, usually once weekly to once daily, or as directed by your doctor. Before giving this medication, learn all directions for preparation and usage. Inspect it visually for dark particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. If crystals are present in the liquid, warm the vial to room temperature (e.g., 70 degrees F or 21 degrees C). If you are unable to redissolve the crystals, do not use the liquid.
Dosage is based on your age, weight, medical condition, and response to therapy. Depending on the type of TB you have, you may use isoniazid for 2-9 months.
It is very important to continue using this medication (and other TB medications) exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
This medication works best when the amount of drug in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, use this drug at evenly spaced intervals. To help you remember, use it on the same day(s) of the week or at the same time(s) each day. If you are using this medication several times a week, it may help to mark your calendar with a reminder.
Do not use more or less of this drug than prescribed or stop using it (or other TB medicines) even for a short time unless directed to do so by your doctor. Skipping or changing your dose without approval from your doctor may cause the amount of TB bacteria to increase, make the infection more difficult to treat (resistant), or worsen side effects. If TB becomes resistant to this medication, it might also be resistant to other TB medications.
Your doctor may also direct you to take vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) to help prevent certain side effects (nerve problems) from isoniazid.
Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
