Caffeine Oral Side Effects
Nausea, stomach upset, insomnia, restlessness, nervousness, tremor, headache, lightheadedness may occur. Large amounts of caffeine may aggravate ulcers, cause frequent urination, flushing, muscle twitch or irritability. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
Abrupt stopping of caffeine intake after several weeks of regular daily use may cause withdrawal symptoms such as headache, anxiety or muscle tension within 12 to 18 hours.
Notify your doctor if you experience:
- dizziness
- depression
- rapid breathing
- chest pain
- confusion
- fatigue
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Caffeine Oral Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have:
- heart problems
- diabetes
- anxiety disorders
- depression
- ulcers
- allergies (especially drug allergies)
This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Since small amounts of this medication appear in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Caffeine Oral Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including:
- cimetidine
- disulfiram
- ciprofloxacin
- enoxacin
- birth control pills
- diet pills
- decongestants
- if you smoke
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
