UAA Oral Uses
This medication is used to relieve discomfort, pain, frequent
urges to urinate, and cramping/spasms of the urinary tract caused
by an infection or a medical procedure. Methenamine, methylene
blue, and benzoic acid are antiseptic drugs that help to clear a
urinary tract infection. Phenyl salicylate is a pain reliever, and
atropine and hyoscyamine are antispasmodic drugs that relax muscle
cramps/spasms.
This product alone is not a cure for an acute urinary tract
infection. If you have a bacterial infection, an antibiotic is
usually prescribed to treat it. Consult your doctor for more
details.
How To Use UAA Oral
Take this medication by mouth, usually 4 times daily or as
directed by your doctor. This medication is not recommended for use
in children younger than 6 years. For children between 6-12 years,
the dosage is based on the medical condition and response to
therapy. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than
prescribed.
To avoid staining the skin, mouth, and teeth, handle the tablets
with dry hands and swallow each dose quickly with a full glass of
water.
Drink plenty of fluids during treatment with this medication
unless otherwise directed by your doctor. This medication works
better if your urine is more acidic. Your doctor may direct you to
drink cranberry juice or take vitamin C supplements to make your
urine more acidic. Large amounts of milk products or antacids
should be avoided because they make your urine less acidic. Ask
your doctor for details.
Take this medication regularly at evenly spaced intervals to get
the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same
times each day.
Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed
amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days.
Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the
infection.
Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve in a few
days.
