Oxsoralen Top

Generic Name: METHOXSALEN - TOPICAL
Pronounced: (meh-THOX-sal-en)

Oxsoralen Top Uses

This medication is used along with controlled ultraviolet light (UVA) treatments to cause return of skin color in a certain skin problem (vitiligo). Methoxsalen belongs to a class of drugs known as psoralen photosensitizers. It works by making certain parts of the skin more sensitive to UVA light, which causes skin color production in the areas of skin with no color. You may begin to see skin darkening within a few weeks and complete results in 6 to 9 months.

How To Use Oxsoralen Top

This medication is applied only by your doctor to affected areas of the skin before timed exposure to UVA light. Treatments may be repeated once weekly or less often depending on your response to treatment. Your eyes will be protected from the UVA light by special goggles provided by your doctor.

Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. You may need to repeat treatments for up to 9 months before white skin areas are your normal skin color.

Tell your doctor immediately if you develop worsening skin burns or your skin condition persists or worsens.
