This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

This drug is excreted into human milk. It is advised to either stop the drug or stop breast-feeding. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

This antibiotic is not recommended for use in persons under 18 years old. Caution is advised when using this drug in children because they may be more sensitive to its possible side effects (e.g., joint/tendon problems). Discuss the risks and benefits with the doctor.

Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection).

Zagam Oral Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you use, especially of:

  • iron
  • calcium or zinc vitamins or mineral supplements
  • sucralfate
  • antacids

Report other drugs which affect the heart rhythm (QTc prolongation), such as:

  • dofetilide
  • pimozide
  • quinidine
  • sotalol
  • procainamide
  • "water pills" (diuretics such as furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide)

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details.

Also report the use of drugs that cause drowsiness such as:

  • sleeping pills
  • sedatives
  • tranquilizers
  • anxiety medicines
  • antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine)
  • narcotic pain medications (e.g., codeine)

Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
