Abacavir-Lamivudine-Zidovudine Oral

Generic Name: ABACAVIR SULFATE/LAMIVUDINE/ZIDOVUDINE - ORAL
Pronounced: (a-BAK-a-vir SUL-fate/la-MIV-ue-deen/zye-DOE-vue-deen)

Abacavir-Lamivudine-Zidovudine Oral Interactions

Your healthcare professionals (e.g., doctor or pharmacist) may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.

This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur:

  • zalcitabine
  • stavudine


This medication must not be taken with any other medications that contain the same drugs (abacavir, lamivudine, zidovudine). Emtricitabine is similar to lamivudine and should not be taken with this combination medication. Check the labels on all your other prescription medications to make sure they do not contain any of these drugs. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

If you are currently using any of these medications listed above, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting abacavir/lamivudine/zidovudine.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of:

  • phenytoin
  • ribavirin
  • interferon
  • fluconazole
  • drugs that may suppress bone marrow function (e.g., ganciclovir, trimethoprim, pyrimethamine, interferon-alpha, doxorubicin, dapsone, flucytosine, pentamidine)
  • cidofovir with probenecid
  • amphotericin B
  • methadone
