Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of:
- propranolol
- furosemide
- hydrochlorothiazide
- gemfibrozil
- chlorothiazide
- tetracycline
- penicillin G
- phenobarbital
- thyroid
- levothyroxine
- estrogens (e.g., estradiol, conjugated estrogens)
- progestins (e.g., medroxyprogesterone)
- digoxin
- digitoxin
- hydrocortisone
- oral phosphate supplements
Cholestyramine may partially interfere with the absorption of these medications if taken close to taking your cholestyramine dose.
Over time, cholestyramine may interfere with the absorption of certain vitamins (e.g., vitamins A, E, D, K) from the diet, causing deficiencies. Consult your doctor for more details.
