Indinavir Oral Interactions
Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur:
- amiodarone
- atazanavir
- certain benzodiazepines (alprazolam, midazolam, triazolam)
- cisapride
- conivaptan
- eletriptan
- ergot alkaloids (e.g., dihydroergotamine, ergonovine, ergotamine, methylergonovine)
- pimozide
- ranolazine
- rifampin
- certain "statin" cholesterol drugs (simvastatin, lovastatin)
- St John's wort
If you are currently using any of these medications listed above, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting indinavir.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of:
- certain anti-seizure drugs (carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital)
- atorvastatin
- certain azole fungal medications (ketoconazole, itraconazole)
- bepridil
- certain calcium channel blockers (e.g., nifedipine, felodipine, nicardipine)
- certain cancer drugs (sunitinib, dasatinib, lapatinib)
- clarithromycin
- delavirdine
- didanosine
- drugs for diabetes (e.g., glyburide, insulins)
- drugs for male sexual function problems (sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil)
- certain drugs that weaken the immune system (cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus)
- efavirenz
- fluticasone nasal
- garlic capsules
- certain other HIV protease inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir, lopinavir, saquinavir, nelfinavir)
- lidocaine
- nevirapine
- quinidine
- rifabutin
- temsirolimus
- trazodone
- venlafaxine
If any of these medications are taken with indinavir, your doctor may change your dose of indinavir or the other drug(s), or your doctor may monitor you specially. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
