Doribax IV Uses
Doripenem is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication is known as a carbapenem-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for virus infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
How To Use Doribax IV
If you are using this medication at home, or if you are a health care professional responsible for giving this medication, follow all instructions for properly mixing and giving this drug. If you have any questions about using this medication properly, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Before use, check the product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid.
Inject this medication into a vein, usually every 8 hours or as directed by your doctor. Do not inject into the skin or muscle. Do not give by a breathing treatment (inhalation). Give this medication over 1 hour.
The dosage and length of treatment is based on your condition and response to treatment.
Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, use this drug at evenly spaced intervals. To help you remember, use the medication at the same times every day.
Continue to use this medication until the full prescribed treatment period is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.
