Librium Inj

Generic Name: CHLORDIAZEPOXIDE - INJECTION
Pronounced: (KLOR-dye-AZ-e-POX-ide)

Librium Inj Uses

Chlordiazepoxide is used to treat anxiety. The injection form is used when the medication cannot be taken by mouth. It is also used to prevent seizures and for short-term control of symptoms (e.g., agitation, anxiety) from alcohol withdrawal. It is also used before surgeries or procedures to cause drowsiness and decrease anxiety about the procedure or surgery.

This medication belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines, which act on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming effect. It works by increasing the effects of a certain natural chemical in the body (GABA) that causes calm.

How To Use Librium Inj

Learn all preparation and usage instructions in the product package. If any of the information is unclear, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Before using this product, check it visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. The solution should be prepared just before using. Discard any unused solution. If you have questions about the use of this medication, consult the pharmacist.

This medication is given by injection into a vein or muscle by a health care professional. Do not inject this medication into an artery. When given into a muscle, prepare the solution only with the special liquid provided, and inject it slowly deep into the muscle (buttock). When given into a vein, the medication must be mixed with the proper IV fluids (e.g., normal saline, sterile water), and given slowly over 1 minute. If the medication will be given into a vein, do not use the special liquid provided for giving the medication into a muscle.

Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not use more than 300 milligrams in 24 hours. You will be closely monitored for several hours after receiving this medication. If your doctor orders you to continue to use this medication, you should be switched to a form that can be taken by mouth as soon as possible.
