Humibid LA Oral

Generic Name: GUAIFENESIN/POTASSIUM GUAIACOLSULFONATE SUSTAINED-RELEASE - ORAL
Pronounced: (gweye-FEN-eh-sin/poh-TASS-ee-um GWEYE-uh-koll-SULL-fun-ate)

Humibid LA Oral Uses

Guaifenesin and potassium guaiacolsulfonate are expectorants which help loosen mucus. The combination of these medications is used to treat a cough associated with the common cold, asthma, and other respiratory illnesses (e.g., sinusitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis).

Do not use this medication in children younger than 2 years unless specifically directed by the doctor. To decrease the risk for serious side effects, carefully follow all of the doctor's dosage directions. Do not give other cough and cold medication that might contain the same or similar ingredients (see also Drug Interactions section). Ask your doctor or pharmacist about other ways to relieve cough and cold symptoms (e.g., saline nose drops/spray, using a humidifier or infant nasal suction bulb).

How To Use Humibid LA Oral

Take this medication twice daily (12 hours apart); or as directed by your doctor. It is best to swallow the medicine whole. Do not crush or chew this medication.

Take this medication with a full glass of water. The water also helps break up mucus and clear congestion.

Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise.

If you smoke, do not take this medication unless directed by your doctor. If the cough lasts for more than one week, recurs, or is accompanied by a fever, headache or rash, consult your doctor.
