Abarelix IM Uses

Abarelix is used to treat men with advanced prostate cancer when other types of treatment are not acceptable. It works by lowering the amount of testosterone hormone that your body makes. Prostate cancer relies on testosterone to grow, so this medication works by slowing tumor growth.



This medication should not be used in women or children.

How To Use Abarelix IM

Read the Patient Information Leaflet and read and sign the Informed Consent provided by your doctor before you start treatment with abarelix. If you have any questions regarding the information, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

This medication is given by injection into your buttock muscle (intramuscularly-IM) by a healthcare professional. It should be mixed in the proper solution provided in the package. Abarelix is usually given every 2 weeks for the first 3 doses, then once every 4 weeks thereafter, or as directed by your doctor.
