Abarelix IM Warning
Infrequently, abarelix may cause a serious allergic reaction.
Allergic reactions can occur even after the first dose, but the
chance of having an allergic reaction increases with the number of
treatments you have. If an allergic reaction occurs, it usually
appears right after a dose. Your doctor will watch you closely for
30 minutes after each injection and treat you immediately if you
develop symptoms such as: rash, itching, swelling, severe
dizziness, fainting, trouble breathing.
This drug may not work as well with continued use. This effect
has been reported more in patients weighing over 225 pounds (102
kilograms). Your doctor will check your testosterone levels to
follow your response to this medication.
Abarelix IM Side Effects
Flushing, sweating, headache, dizziness, trouble sleeping,
tiredness, breast pain/tenderness/enlargement, constipation, or
upset stomach may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen,
notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because
he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the
risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have
serious side effects.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but
serious side effects occur:
- swelling of the ankles/feet
- new or worsening bone pain
- bone fracture
- yellowing eyes or skin
- dark urine
- stomach/abdominal pain
Seek immediate medical attention if any of these rare but very
serious side effects occur:
- severe dizziness
- fainting
- fast/irregular heartbeat
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but
seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a
serious allergic reaction may include:
- rash
- itching
- swelling
- severe dizziness
- fainting
- trouble breathing
