Nucochem Oral
Generic Name: PSEUDOEPHEDRINE/CODEINE - ORALPronounced: (soo-doe-e-FED-rin/KOE-deen)
Nucochem Oral Uses
This medication is used for the temporary relief of cough and congestion caused by infections such as the common cold, flu, allergies, hay fever, bronchitis, and sinusitis. This product contains two medications, pseudoephedrine and codeine. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant and works by decreasing swelling in the ears, nose, and throat. This decreases stuffy nose and ear pain. Codeine is a narcotic cough suppressant that works on certain centers in the brain to stop the urge to cough, and it may also have a drying effect on body fluids.
This medication is generally used only for short-term treatment, not for persistent coughs from smoking, chronic breathing problems such as asthma or emphysema, or coughs with lots of mucus or fluids (productive coughs).
Use in children younger than 2 years is not recommended.
