Tyzeka Oral Warning
Rarely, telbivudine has caused severe (sometimes fatal) liver disease (enlarged/fatty liver) and blood problems (lactic acidosis). Immediately tell your doctor if you develop symptoms of liver problems (e.g., persistent nausea, stomach/abdominal pain, dark urine, yellowing eyes/skin) or if you develop symptoms of lactic acidosis (e.g., severe weakness, rapid breathing/heartbeat, drowsiness, lightheadedness, cold arms/legs, unusual muscle pain).
Do not stop taking telbivudine unless told to do so by your doctor. Stopping this medication could make your hepatitis get worse or become very serious. Your doctor will perform liver function tests for several months if he/she decides you should stop telbivudine.
