Pramoxine-Menthol-Petrolatum Top Uses
Pramoxine with menthol is used to treat itching and pain caused by minor skin irritations such as chapped/cracked skin and eczema.
Pramoxine belongs to a class of drugs known as local anesthetics. It works on nerves in the skin to block or reduce the feeling of pain and itching. Menthol is a counterirritant that works by causing the skin to feel cold and then warm. These feelings on the skin distract you from feeling the itch.
Use of this product is not recommended in children younger than 2 years unless directed by the doctor.
How To Use Pramoxine-Menthol-Petrolatum Top
This medication is for use on the skin only. Learn all preparation and usage instructions in the product package. If any of the information is unclear, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Apply a thin layer to the affected area up to 3 to 4 times a day or as directed by your doctor. Rub in gently and thoroughly. Do not bandage or tightly wrap the area unless directed by your doctor. Doing so may increase the risk of side effects. You may cover the area loosely to protect clothing. Ask your pharmacist for more details.
Do not use on large areas of the body or apply more often than directed. Your condition will not clear faster, but side effects may be increased.
Wash hands immediately after use, unless the area being treated includes the hands.
Avoid getting the product in your eyes, nose, ears, or mouth. If the medication gets in these areas, rinse the area immediately with clean water.
Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens after 7 days of treatment or if it returns in a few days after improving. If you think you may have a serious medical problem, seek immediate medical attention.
