Depo-Estradiol IM

Generic Name: ESTRADIOL CYPIONATE - INJECTION
Pronounced: (ES-tra-DYE-ol sip-EYE-oh-nate)

Depo-Estradiol IM Uses

This medication is a female estrogen hormone and is usually given to women during and after menopause to reduce menopausal symptoms (such as intense feelings of warmth and sweating known as hot flashes). These symptoms result from a decrease in the amount of estrogen produced by the body. Using estrogen drugs can help the body adjust to lower estrogen levels and reduce these symptoms. If you need treatment only for vaginal menopause symptoms (such as vaginal dryness), products applied directly inside the vagina should be considered before treatment with products that are taken by mouth, absorbed through the skin, or injected.

This medication is also used to treat certain conditions in women who have not yet gone through menopause but whose bodies do not make enough estrogen.

How To Use Depo-Estradiol IM

Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start using estradiol cypionate and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

This medication is injected into a muscle, usually every 3 to 4 weeks or as directed by your doctor. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.

If you are giving this medication to yourself at home, learn all preparation and usage instructions from your health care professional. Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Learn how to store and discard medical supplies safely.

This medication should be used regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, it may help to mark your calendar with a reminder.

Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
