Ricotuss-H Oral

Generic Name: CARBETAPENTANE/CHLORPHENIRAMINE - ORAL SUSPENSION
Pronounced: (KAR-bet-uh-PEN-tayn/klor-fen-IR-uh-meen)

Ricotuss-H Oral Uses

This medication is used to treat a cough due to the common cold, asthma, or bronchitis. Other symptoms and the cause of these conditions should be treated with additional medications/therapies as determined by your doctor. Reducing the cough lets you sleep better through the night so you feel more rested. Carbetapentane is a cough suppressant, and chlorpheniramine belongs to a class of drugs known as antihistamines.

Do not use this medication in children younger than 2 years unless specifically directed by the doctor. To decrease the risk for serious side effects, carefully follow all of the doctor's dosage directions. Do not give other cough and cold medication that might contain the same or similar ingredients (see also Drug Interactions section). Ask your doctor or pharmacist about other ways to relieve cough and cold symptoms (e.g., saline nose drops/spray, using a humidifier or infant nasal suction bulb).

How To Use Ricotuss-H Oral

Shake the bottle well before each dose. Measure out the dose carefully using a medication spoon/cup. Take this medication by mouth with or without food, usually twice daily (every 12 hours) as needed or as directed by your doctor.

Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. In children, the dose is also based on age.

Chlorpheniramine may dry up and thicken mucus in your lungs, making it more difficult to breathe and clear your lungs. To help prevent this effect, drink plenty of fluids while you use this medication, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
