CVS Papaya Enzyme Oral Side Effects

Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur:

  • severe stomach/abdominal pain
  • nausea/vomiting
  • slow heartbeat
  • severe drowsiness
  • inability to move


When papaya is taken in large doses, it may infrequently cause serious irritation and ulcers in the esophagus. If you notice any of the following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking this product and consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately:

  • new or worsening heartburn
  • chest pain
  • difficult/painful swallowing


A very serious allergic reaction to this product is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including:

  • rash
  • itching
  • swelling
  • severe dizziness
  • trouble breathing
