No specific side effects have been reported; however, neomycin may be associated with an increased risk of allergic skin reaction.

You should not take this drug if you have had an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients, or if you suffer from herpes simplex, vaccinia (cowpox), or varicella (chickenpox).


Special warnings about Cortisporin-TC Otic

Long-term use of Cortisporin-TC can lead to permanent hearing loss. Therefore, treatment should not continue for more than 10 days.

If an allergic reaction occurs, you should stop using the medication immediately. Your doctor may also recommend that future treatment with kanamycin, paromomycin, streptomycin, and possibly gentamicin be avoided, since you may also be allergic to these medications.

Use the medication with care if you have a perforated eardrum or chronic otitis media (inflammation and infection of the middle ear).

The effects of this product during pregnancy and nursing have not been adequately studied. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately.


Recommended dosage for Cortisporin-TC Otic

This medication should not be used for longer than 10 days.

ADULTS


The usual dose is 5 drops (when using the supplied measured dropper) or 4 drops (when using the dropper-bottle container) in the affected ear, 3 or 4 times daily.

INFANTS AND CHILDREN


The usual dose is 4 drops (when using the supplied measured dropper) or 3 drops (when using the dropper-bottle container) in the affected ear 3 or 4 times daily.


Overdosage

Although no specific information is available, any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical treatment immediately.
