Why is Cutivate prescribed?
Cutivate cream and ointment are prescribed for relief of
inflamed, itchy rashes and other inflammatory skin conditions.
Most important fact about Cutivate
When you use Cutivate, you inevitably absorb some of the
medication through your skin and into the bloodstream. Too much
absorption can lead to unwanted side effects elsewhere in the body.
To keep this problem to a minimum, avoid using large amounts of
Cutivate over large areas, and do not cover it with airtight
dressings such as plastic wrap or adhesive bandages unless
specifically told to do so by your doctor.
How should you use Cutivate?
Cutivate is for use only on the skin. Be careful to keep it out
of your eyes.
--If you miss a dose...
Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the
next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular
schedule.

Store at room temperature.
What side effects may occur?
Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in
intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor
can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking
Cutivate.

Side effects of Cutivate may include:
Burning, dryness, infected or worsening eczema, itchy
spots, rash, skin irritation, stinging
Side effects occur more frequently with the use of airtight
bandages. In children, the more likely side effects may include a
burning sensation, hives, inflammation, rash, and red blotches on
the face and body.
Why should Cutivate not be prescribed?
If you are sensitive to or have ever had an allergic reaction to
fluticasone propionate or other steroid medications, you should not
use Cutivate. Make sure your doctor is aware of any drug reactions
you have experienced.
Special warnings about Cutivate
Do not use this drug for any disorder other than the one for
which it was prescribed.
Do not use Cutivate cream on the face, underarms, or groin areas
unless your doctor tells you to do so. Do not apply Cutivate if you
have an infection in the affected skin area. Tell your doctor if
you have had any other problems in that area.
