Possible food and drug interactions when taking Synalgos-DC

Synalgos-DC slows brain activity and intensifies the effects of alcohol. Therefore, you should reduce your intake of alcoholic beverages or avoid them altogether.

If Synalgos-DC is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Synalgos-DC with the following:

Narcotic pain relievers such as Percocet and Demerol
Sedatives such as Halcion and Seconal
Tranquilizers such as Valium and Xanax

Taking blood thinners such as Coumadin in combination with Synalgos-DC may cause internal bleeding.

The use of Synalgos-DC in combination with antigout medications such as Benemid may alter its effects.


Special information if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

The effects of Synalgos-DC during pregnancy have not been adequately studied. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. This drug may appear in breast milk and could affect a nursing infant. If this medication is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment is finished.


Recommended dosage

ADULTS


Your doctor will prescribe a dosage based on the severity of your pain and how you respond to this medication. The usual dose of Synalgos-DC is 2 capsules taken every 4 hours as needed.

CHILDREN


The safety and effectiveness of this medication have not been established in children 12 years of age and under.

OLDER ADULTS


Synalgos-DC should be taken with caution by older adults or anyone in a weakened or rundown condition. Therefore, your doctor will adjust the dosage accordingly.


Overdosage

Although no specific information is available, any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of Synalgos-DC, seek medical attention immediately.
