  • About Tussi-Organidin NR

Do not take Tussi-Organidin NR for the constant cough brought on by smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema unless your doctor recommends it. If your cough lasts for more than 1 week, tends to come back, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache, check with your doctor.

Be sure to tell the doctor if you have any breathing problems, a severe abdominal condition, kidney or liver problems, an underactive thyroid gland, or an enlarged prostate. Also alert the doctor if you suffer from seizures, have had a head injury, or have recently had stomach, intestinal, or urinary tract surgery.


Possible food and drug interactions when taking Tussi-Organidin NR

If Tussi-Organidin NR is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Tussi-Organidin NR with the following:

  • Alcohol
  • Antihistamines such as Actifed or Benadryl
  • Drugs used to treat anxiety or depression, such as Librium and Prozac
  • Sedatives such as Dalmane

Special information if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. The safety of Tussi-Organidin NR during pregnancy has not been established. Tussi-Organidin NR should not be taken if you are breastfeeding.

ADULTS AND CHILDREN 12 YEARS AND OLDER


Tussi-Organidin NR

The usual dosage is 2 teaspoonfuls every 4 hours, not to exceed 12 teaspoonfuls in 24 hours.

Brontex

The usual dosage is 1 tablet or 4 teaspoonfuls every 4 hours. Do not take more than 6 tablets in a 24-hour period.

CHILDREN 6 TO 12 YEARS OF AGE


Tussi-Organidin NR

The usual dosage is 1 teaspoonful every 4 hours, not to exceed 6 teaspoonfuls in 24 hours.

Brontex

The usual dosage is 2 teaspoonfuls every 4 hours. Do not give tablets.

CHILDREN 2 TO 6 YEARS OF AGE


Tussi-Organidin NR

Your doctor will determine the dosage according to weight. The recommended total daily dosage is 1 milligram per 2.2 pounds of body weight, divided into 4 small doses.
